About

Beacon is a sci-fi action roguelike played as a top-down shooter. Fight through a randomly generated hostile world as you search for your emergency distress beacon and attempt to escape the planet where your ship crashed. Find weapons and items throughout each area, and collect DNA from defeated enemies. When you die, you can combine that DNA with your own to gain different stats and potentially gameplay-altering physical mutations for the next run. Beacon blends fast, frenetic action with long-term strategy, allowing the effects of your choices to build over hours of play.

Storyline

You step out of the cramped pod, disoriented and blinking. As your vision clears, a desolate scene emerges: the burning wreckage of your ship, your home, lies scattered across the surface of an alien planet. You must have crash-landed hard. As you pick your way through the remains, you search for answers, a weapon, or a radio. Instead, you find a body. Your body. At least, you think, the cloning bay still works. Unfortunately, that seems to be almost all that does. To escape the planet, you must explore its hostile wilderness, find equipment, and build a beacon. The forests look dangerous, but you have your gun. And if the worst happens, at least the cloning bay still works.
