Doom

Set in the future after humanity has left Earth and spread across the galaxy, you’re sent to Mars to investigate a crisis at a Union Aerospace Corporation radioactive waste facility. The military has been running teleportation experiments on the nearby moons Phobos and Deimos—until Phobos starts transmitting incoherent distress calls and Deimos vanishes entirely. When your team arrives and enters the facility, the radio erupts with gunfire and screams before going dead, leaving you alone with only a pistol and no way off the planet. To survive, you must push into the complex and fight through demonic imps, haunting spectres, and the undead remains of your former comrades as you search for a way out of the horror.

The player takes the role of an unnamed marine—described as “one of Earth’s toughest, hardened in combat and trained for action”—who has been incarcerated on Mars after assaulting a senior officer when ordered to fire on civilians. He is stationed alongside the Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC), a multi-planetary conglomerate and military contractor conducting secret experiments in interdimensional travel. Although recent teleportation tests have shown dangerous anomalies and instability, the research continues. Then everything goes wrong. Creatures from hell pour out of teleportation gates on Deimos and Phobos. Base security mounts a defense, but it fails, and the facilities are rapidly overrun. Personnel are killed or transformed into zombies. A military detachment from Mars travels to Phobos to investigate. The player is assigned to secure the perimeter while the assault team and heavy weapons move inside. Soon, radio contact goes dead, and the marine realizes he is the only survivor. Unable to pilot the shuttle off Phobos alone, his only way out is to enter the moon base and fight through its complexes.
