Dota 2

Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) and the standalone sequel to the Defense of the Ancients (DotA) mod. With regular updates that continually evolve its gameplay, features, and heroes, Dota 2 has grown into a constantly changing competitive experience.

In Dota 2, each match pits two teams of five players against each other, with both sides defending fortified bases at opposite ends of the map. The goal is to destroy the enemy Ancient—a structure that cannot be damaged until specific objectives are completed. Each player controls a Hero and focuses on gaining levels, acquiring items, and battling the opposing team to secure victory. Matches are standalone, with no connection between one game and the next. All Heroes are available to play without needing to purchase or unlock them, and the development team works to balance the roster so any Hero can be viable in a match.
