The story begins in a corner of Allraan, a tapestry of nations shaped by diverse cultures and values. Through sword and magical objects known as rune-lenses, the land's history has been defined by the alliances and aggressions of the humans, beastmen, elves, and desert people who live there. The Galdean Empire has surpassed the other nations and discovered technology that amplifies the magic of rune-lenses. Now, the Empire is searching the continent for an artifact that will expand its power even further. During one such expedition, Seign Kesling, a young and gifted imperial officer, meets Nowa, a boy from a remote village, and the two become friends. However, a twist of fate soon draws them into the fires of war, forcing both to question everything they believe is right and true.
