About

Elona is a roguelike game created by Japanese developer Noa. Its name is short for "Eternal League of Nefia." Noa began developing Elona in 2006, basing it on roguelike games such as Ancient Domains of Mystery (ADOM) and Angband. Noa had previously created two other role-playing games, Shade and Etherwind. A reviewer at Insert Credit praised Elona as "very well-made" and compared its character development system with that of ADOM.

Storyline

The game is set in the fantasy world of Irva. Create a character by choosing one of eleven races and ten classes, then battle monsters, practice magic, perform music, or pursue a variety of other roles. By changing a configuration value, you can also play as special "debug" races, including a god. The game begins with your character surviving a disaster at sea in North Tyris, the northern region of Irva's northwestern continent. North Tyris features many towns and dungeons with randomly generated elements to explore. As you travel, you can deal with or avoid creatures, townsfolk, other adventurers, and the corrupting effects of Etherwind, a seasonal phenomenon. Take on quests and choose to believe in one of several gods to enhance your character's skills and earn various bonuses.
