Fazbear Entertainment has become deeply unpopular after multiple incidents and disasters that allegedly took place across its locations over the years—stories that have spread as urban legends. The situation worsens when an unnamed indie developer releases a horror video game series based on those legends. To repair its image, Fazbear Entertainment commissions the Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience, a virtual reality game designed to mock the rumors and convince players the events were entirely fictional. However, sixteen cassette tapes hidden in the game contradict that message. They contain logs recorded by one of the developers. Presented as a warning to future players, the tapes reveal a lawsuit during development tied to an incident involving a former employee named Jeremy—an event that threatened the project’s completion. The logs also disclose that Fazbear Entertainment originally hired the unnamed indie developer to create the horror game series based on the alleged legends, then cut ties with him. The games were part of a larger effort to discredit the rumors surrounding the company. Most importantly, the tapes warn about malicious code uploaded into the game from an old circuit board. It manifests as Glitchtrap, a sinister humanoid in a rabbit costume. Glitchtrap is ultimately revealed to be trying to escape the game by merging with the player. After the non-VR version is released, a door in one level leads to a snowy Christmas tree farm. In the distance, a silhouette shows a large building under construction by Fazbear Entertainment, alongside a billboard announcing that they are hiring.
