About
Build and manage your own castle settlement in a land reclaimed by wilderness. With detailed management systems, survival strategy, and a moddable sandbox world, Going Medieval challenges you to build the mightiest colony on this side of the apocalypse.
Storyline
In Going Medieval, society is on the brink of collapse. By the end of the 14th century, a devastating plague has killed 95% of the world’s population.
Survivors eventually emerge from the ashes of civilization, and it is up to you to help them establish a settlement in a dangerous land reclaimed by nature. Build them a home, shape their lives, and protect them from animals, bandits, and other threats in a lawless post-apocalyptic world.
Design, build, and expand your settlement from a small wooden hut into a massive stone castle. Using accessible 3D terrain tools, create the perfect stronghold, from winding underground caverns to sprawling multi-story fortresses.
This harsh new world is filled with external threats, but impenetrable defenses and traps can give your colonists the advantage in battle. Research technologies, craft weapons and equipment, and prepare your people to fight back against relentless waves of attackers.
Your colonists must contend with more than raids. They need protection from starvation and the elements, so stockpile supplies and build shelter to keep them fed and warm. Manage your villagers’ emotional states, as their moods suffer when their needs and desires are not fulfilled.
Grow your settlement’s population by helping strangers in dangerous situations or welcoming like-minded travelers. Each villager has a personal history and individual goals, and you can learn more about them by observing their behavior and relationships with others.
