Gradius

A defining feature of the Gradius series is its power meter. Collect power-up items to move the meter's highlight to the next available upgrade. When the desired power-up is highlighted, activate it to use the upgrade and reset the highlight.

Gradius, our home planet, has been invaded by Bacterian, a cluster of stars located in subspace. The invasion has plunged this dazzling world into a series of vicious battles. Facing extinction under this onslaught, Gradius deploys its final hope: the super-dimensional fighter Vic Viper. Its mission is to reach the enemy fortress of Xaerous. The only way to end the conflict is to penetrate deep into the enemy stronghold and destroy the core at its center. Prepare to launch. Vic Viper takes off into the vast blackness of space.
