About
This chess game is backed by grandmaster Garry Kasparov. Create a personal profile with your name, MSN nickname for online or network play, country, and facial icon.
Choose black or white, then select a game type: Local play against the computer or another player with no time limit or a specified limit; Online play through MSN Game Zone or a computer network; or Kasparov Chess Club. The club includes 45 members and offers a single exhibition game against any member or a championship mode to become Club Champion by facing every member. Each opponent has different abilities and ratings from Bronze to Gold, with hints available during play.
Gameplay includes a move history, resign and draw options, and 2D or 3D chessboard views. Choose from Staunton Black & White, Staunton Rosewood, or Modern chess sets, with algebraic or figurine notation. Move speed can be instant or adjusted with a slider for a faster or slower pace.
Training mode teaches chess newcomers the basic rules, from gameplay fundamentals to winning strategies. It covers openings, defenses, middle-game and endgame strategies, useful tips, potential traps, and problems.
Review 64 historical games played by Garry Kasparov, including famous matches against leading chess players and IBM's Deep Blue supercomputer. Install or synchronize the game from a Windows PC CD-ROM using a Palm OS 3.5 or PocketPC handheld device in its cradle.
Storyline
Kasparov Chessmate has no conventional story campaign. Its progression focuses on developing chess skills through matches, training lessons, and the Kasparov Chess Club championship. Players face increasingly skilled opponents while studying historical Garry Kasparov games, including his matches against Deep Blue.
