Kingdom Hearts III

Kingdom Hearts III is the third main installment in the Kingdom Hearts series, developed and published by Square Enix. It launched in January 2019 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the expansion Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind released in January 2020. Set after the events of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, the story follows an older Sora as he begins a new adventure to find seven guardians of light and stop Xehanort from starting a second Keyblade War. Sora is joined by Donald Duck, Goofy, Mickey Mouse, Riku, Kairi, and others as he travels to multiple worlds based on Disney and Pixar properties and crosses paths with the real Organization XIII. Kingdom Hearts III features hack-and-slash combat reminiscent of Kingdom Hearts II, alongside elements from later handheld entries. You control Sora in a party with Donald, Goofy, and up to two additional Disney characters depending on the world. Key additions include Formchange, which lets the currently equipped Keyblade change shape and grant special abilities; Sora can equip up to three Keyblades and switch between them. The Attractions mechanic occasionally allows Sora to summon and pilot a vehicle inspired by Disney theme park attractions. At certain points in the story, you can also control other characters.

After countless adventures across many worlds in his long fight against darkness, Sora has grown from a boy who only dreamed other worlds existed beyond his island into a confident young man. Now he realizes that the conflict has unfolded exactly as Master Xehanort planned, and the Second Keyblade War—the final struggle between light and dark—draws near. To stand against the overwhelming darkness, Sora and his friends must gather the seven guardians of light. Riku, Sora’s best friend, and King Mickey search for a battle-scarred Keyblade wielder, while Sora, Donald, and Goofy begin a journey to find “the Key to Return Hearts.” Never-before-featured Disney worlds provide the setting for another high-stakes adventure to save the universe. Chosen by the Keyblade, Sora is the hero whose heart’s light continues to shine as a beacon of hope. With a strong sense of justice and experience gained through battles against darkness, he is supported by friends who lend their strength to push back the darkness: Riku, his childhood friend from Destiny Islands; Donald and Goofy, his steadfast companions since the beginning; and King Mickey, who never stops backing him. As the world is pulled into another war against darkness, the Keyblade wielder and his allies must confront Master Xehanort and stop his plan to ignite another Keyblade War.
