About

King's Field: The Ancient City, known in Japan as King's Field IV, is a medieval-themed first-person role-playing game produced by From Software for PlayStation 2 in 2001. It is the fourth entry in the King's Field series and the final game in the series released for home consoles.

Storyline

Something is wrong in the land of Heladin. Its king is dying after becoming smitten with a strange idol given to him as a gift. A deep sorrow and darkness have engulfed the country, staining the souls of its people. Since the idol entered the kingdom, the once-prosperous nation has fallen into corruption and decay. Fearing for his king and homeland, sword master Septiego led a battalion of his finest men to return the idol, believed to be the source of the tragedy. The party was never seen or heard from again. Although the idol was presumed lost forever, Heladin's decay continued.
