Mad Max

In Mad Max, you play as the titular survivor Mad Max, a dangerous melee fighter whose weapon of choice is a shotgun. He is assisted by Chumbucket (Chum), who helps build and upgrade Max's vehicle, the Magnum Opus. Mad Max includes a variety of weapons and emphasizes close-quarters combat since shotgun ammo is scarce. The thunderstick is an explosive weapon that can be lodged into an enemy before detonating. The harpoon is another favored tool, but it can only be used while driving with Chum riding along. The Magnum Opus can be outfitted with a fast V12 engine and powerful ramming capability to destroy enemy vehicles and their weaponry. When driving and aiming at the same time, the game can enter slow motion and lets you switch between targets. Not much is known about the full range of vehicular combat features. The game also features a crafting system for creating new weapons and tools. Max's garage is used to change and modify the car, including engines, chassis, wheels, bodywork, paint treatment, the vehicle "shell," and overall weight, with attributes updating accordingly. Max can also be upgraded, though those plans have not been fully implemented. Players are given multiple approaches to objectives, including playing stealthily or aggressively. Chum can offer guidance on completing goals strategically, but it is largely up to the player how objectives are carried out.

Max crosses a barren desert wasteland searching for his lost prized vehicle: the Pursuit Special, also known as The Interceptor.
