About
Mega Man Network Transmission, known in Japan as Rockman EXE Transmission, is a video game developed by Arika and published by Capcom and ShoPro Entertainment for Nintendo GameCube. It was first released in Japan on March 6, 2003, followed by releases in North America and PAL regions the following June. Network Transmission is part of the Mega Man Battle Network series, which began on the Game Boy Advance handheld.
Storyline
The storyline of MegaMan Network Transmission is set during the first decade of the 21st century, known as "200X," one month after the original MegaMan Battle Network. After defeating the Life Virus, the ultimate weapon of Dr. Wily and the WWW (World Three) organization, Lan Hikari and his NetNavi, MegaMan.EXE, return to a peaceful life.
Lan's break is short-lived when he receives a PET e-mail about the Zero Virus, a mysterious and destructive computer virus that infects Navis and causes widespread chaos. He also receives word that Roll.EXE, a fellow NetNavi, is trapped on the internet. MegaMan.EXE sets out to rescue her and discovers that an infected FireMan.EXE is causing the trouble. After defeating FireMan.EXE, Lan and MegaMan speak with his operator, Mr. Match, and learn that the vaccine distributed to counter the Zero Virus is having the opposite effect: it caused FireMan.EXE to go berserk.
