About
Japan, 2030 A.D. Memories can now be digitized and archived, allowing people to communicate with the deceased. With only one week remaining before his best friend’s memories are deleted, can Hiroki uncover the truth behind Sorano’s death?
Storyline
In 2030, advances in Japanese neuroscience make it possible to save and record human memories. This technology is known as e-Memory.
However, the rapid rise in crimes involving e-Memory leads the government to impose strict regulations on human memory data. In effect, the government gains a monopoly over all recorded memories.
Recording the memories of living people is forbidden, and e-Memory may be used only for the deceased. This restriction leads to the creation of state-owned and operated "Connect Centers," where people can call and communicate with the dead.
The Connect Centers help people cope with their grief by allowing them to speak with loved ones who have recently died.
The protagonist, college student Kusuhara Hiroki, struggles with suicidal impulses after the sudden death of his close childhood friend, Mizunashi Sorano.
Sorano's memories are scheduled to be preserved for only four more days, until August 26. Together with his friend Amamiya Kakeru, Kusuhara attempts to steal Mizunashi Sorano's memories from the server where they are stored.
During their attempt, the two uncover the secret behind the Connect Centers and become caught up in the conflict taking place behind the scenes.
