About

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is the sequel to the espionage action game Metal Gear Solid. Its gameplay builds on the original as players guide Solid Snake or Raiden past guards, use gadgets to outsmart enemies, and defeat challenging bosses. The game expands the cover system, allowing characters to hide behind walls and objects before popping out to fire, while improved enemy AI lets opponents use cover as well. Metal Gear Solid 2 is widely regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time and a notable example of artistic expression in video games.

Storyline

Two years after the Shadow Moses Incident, Solid Snake and Otacon, working for Philanthropy, receive intelligence that a new type of Metal Gear is being transported along the Hudson River. When Snake boards the tanker, Russian mercenaries led by Revolver Ocelot seize it in an attempt to steal the new Metal Gear. In 2009, players control Raiden, a rookie agent acting under the Colonel's orders and apparently serving with a reformed FOXHOUND unit. His mission is to infiltrate the offshore clean-up facility Big Shell and rescue the kidnapped President of the United States from the terrorist organization Sons of Liberty. As the mission unfolds, Raiden discovers that nearly everyone he contacts has secrets, making it increasingly difficult to distinguish friend from foe.
