Night in the Woods

Night in the Woods is a story-driven adventure focused on characters and exploration, with light platforming as you move around town. You play as Mae, a cat who treats rooftops, ledges, and power lines as her playground—and she’s not alone up there. Take part in activities, interact with the world in different ways, spend time with friends, and explore Possum Springs and its surrounding areas.

Night In The Woods is a video game about Mae, who just wants to run around with her friends, break stuff, and cling to a life of aggressive aimlessness. After dropping out of college, she returns to her crumbling old mining town to do exactly that—only to find that nothing is the same anymore. The town feels different. Her old friends are growing in new directions. And Mae is changing too, developing sudden, unexplained abilities that open up parts of town she never knew existed. As the world shifts and the future grows uncertain, something waits in the woods behind the park, out past the trees near the old mine. And it may mean there’s no future at all. Night In The Woods comes from a deeply personal place: that moment when you can feel change coming and know it’s time to move on, but you don’t know how. It’s about endings, uncertainty, and the question of how long we can hold on—and when we should finally let go.
