About

A run-and-gun shooter by Konami, also known as Green Beret, in which the player controls a soldier infiltrating a military base.

Storyline

The player controls a United States special operations soldier who infiltrates an enemy military base to rescue several POWs from execution by firing squad. The mission spans four stages: a Marshalling Area, Harbor, Air Base, and Siberian Camp. The player's omnipresent knife can be supplemented with captured weapons. Defeating certain enemy soldiers provides a three-shot flamethrower, four-shot RPG, or three-pack of hand grenades. Each stage ends with a unique enemy group: Stage 1 features a truckload of running, jump-kicking soldiers; Stage 2 has a pack of fierce dogs; Stage 3 includes three firing autogyros; and Stage 4 pits the player against a skilled multi-shot flamethrower operator. After completing the mission, the four rescued POWs salute, and the game restarts from Stage 1 at the next difficulty level. Players can remain in one area to earn points, but taking too long causes tougher enemies to appear. Eventually, a stealth-like bomber arrives to eliminate the player. An invisible time limit will also kill the player if a stage takes too long to complete.
