Saihate no Ima

This story follows seven long-time friends as they grow closer or drift apart over the years. It is presented through a blog-style interface.

The protagonist, Atemiya Shinobu, was raised in a certain facility and never had anyone he could call a friend. After leaving the facility with his sister, Chidori, the first thing he did was search for people he could befriend. Benio Azusa is a tomboyish girl who lives nearby. Hondou Sayaka is a quiet but sharp-tongued girl who, like Shinobu, is responsible for raising the pets at school. Tsukamoto Youko and Itsuki are siblings from a prestigious local family. Higuchi Shouji is a boy Shinobu meets after being drawn to the similarities they share. Izuki Fueko is a girl he encounters by chance. Together with Shinobu, they become a group of seven. None of them had experienced the joy of friendship before, but they meet one another and become companions. The story begins in a quiet town painted by the colors of dusk. Around these seven friends unfold understanding, empathy, conflict, and the fleeting love of adolescence. It is a friendship that could last forever. Such simple happiness should have lasted forever. That changes when the "enemy" appears. The enemy disrupts the peaceful relationship between the seven friends. Shinobu cannot forgive anyone who injures his companions or hurts another person's heart. As he comes to understand what has happened, the world they inhabit changes. Instead of becoming the new world it should have been, they arrive at the "sanctuary." This is a story about the heart: a story about the thing found at the farthest reaches of the heart.
