Set in a reimagined late-16th-century Japan during the Sengoku period, the story begins as warlord Isshin Ashina launches a bloody coup and seizes control of Ashina. Around this time, a nameless orphan is taken in by the wandering shinobi Owl, who names him “Wolf.” Twenty years later, the Ashina clan teeters on the brink of collapse. Isshin is now elderly and ill, while enemy forces close in from every side. Desperate to prevent his clan’s fall, Isshin’s grandson Genichiro kidnaps the Divine Heir Kuro, hoping to use Kuro’s “Dragon Heritage” to create an immortal army.
