Long ago, humanity possessed extraordinary magical talent and Chromacite technology by today’s standards. They lived on a “normal” terrestrial world with vast continents and oceans—until everything changed with the Worldbreak. A catastrophic event shattered the world, creating the fragmented geography known today. Humanity endured, but most technology was lost and old ways of life were forgotten. Isolated across different islands, people formed separate tribes. In time, air travel was (re)discovered, and a shared world culture emerged once more. The Weaver Wars followed: a prolonged era of conflict between competing weaver-aligned cultures. Eventually, the Convokers won a decisive victory, founding the Imperium and ushering in the modern era. For many generations, the Imperium has ruled successfully and mankind has flourished. While the world has largely avoided military clashes on a truly global scale, clashes between ideologically opposed Houses are not uncommon. When tensions erupt into open conflict, Imperium peacekeeping forces have generally contained them before they can engulf the world in war. Then, without warning, Queen Aurelia dies under mysterious circumstances. Shards begin falling from the sky. This is where your story begins, Rangers.
