About
Space Run is a real-time PC strategy game that combines spaceship construction with mechanics inspired by tower defense. Numerous twists and highly dynamic gameplay create a fast-paced experience, while the game pays tribute to 1980s science fiction and many of its familiar tropes and references.
Storyline
The year is 2525, and space is no longer "the final frontier." Humanity has spread to the farthest reaches of the known galaxy. However, those distant regions are dangerous, filled with space pirates, deadly asteroids, hostile aliens, random anomalies, and perhaps even a strange space monster. The people living there still need supplies, and that is where you come in.
You are Captain Buck Mann, a somewhat ironic name since you do not have a buck to your name.
You are a "thirtysomething" pilot, although you have never cared much about age. Age is just a number, and you have never been particularly good with numbers. The only number that matters to you is number one. You consider yourself the best pilot in the galaxy, if not the universe. You once flew for Earth Force and later became a major name on the space racing tour. You are a rugged individualist, your own man, and a man's man.
The problem is that you have a gambling "habit," which repeatedly gets you into trouble. In your latest incidents, you held Aces over Kings for a full house and seemed certain to win. Somehow, you lost everything to a mutant holding four threes. Then you failed to cover the spread on a humans-versus-androids rugby game. You bet on the androids but never anticipated the EMP blast. In short, you now owe the mob a lot of credits.
With no money and debts far beyond your means, you are forced to accept jobs piloting large, bulky cargo ships. Much to your chagrin, you become a "Space Runner," completing Space Run after Space Run.
Even so, you have the courage, know-how, and mojo to get the job done. You use two mottos depending on the customer: "Fast safe delivery!" and "When you need it there yesterday!"
If someone has a package that needs delivery, you are the person to do it, no questions asked. Well, there is one question: how much does it pay?
Your crew
Adaam-12 is a one-of-a-kind android, or more likely one-of-twelve-of-a-kind. He is your co-pilot, second in command, and right-hand man, or machine. He is constantly by your side, having been won in a blackjack game. He knows nearly everything and is programmed to be helpful and full of ideas.
That still does not stop him from being snarky. Sometimes, you suspect he thinks you work for him.
