Super Contra is a 1988 arcade run-and-gun action game and the second Contra arcade release. You play as soldiers Bill Rizer and Lance Bean, sent to defend Earth after alien forces seize an allied military base and possess much of its military. The action alternates between side-scrolling stages and overhead stages, replacing the original Contra's 3D-style sections. Storyline

One year after the battle against the Red Falcon Organization, Bill and Lance are sent on another mission. Alien forces have seized an allied military base and possessed most of its troops. The two soldiers must battle their former comrades-in-arms as well as a new mutated form of the alien creatures they faced during their previous mission.
