Wardner

In Wardner, you play as a short, chubby protagonist whose name is unknown. The adventure begins when you and a girl encounter a wizard who promises a "fantasia." After you follow him, he kidnaps the girl, saying that she will make a suitable gift for Mr. Wardner. Set out to save your friend across five levels and reach the evil Mr. Wardner. Defeat monsters, jump over and duck under traps, and collect gold and orbs to aid your journey. A weapon meter at the bottom of the screen displays your current weapon and weapon power, from 1 to 8. All weapons share the same power level, so switching weapons does not reduce it. Rather than increasing weapon strength, higher power allows you to fire faster.

The hero and his girlfriend become lost in the mysterious forest of Wardner. Wardner, the forest's ruler, suddenly transforms the hero's girlfriend and takes her deep into the woods. The hero sets out to traverse the forest and save her.
