World of Warcraft - Battle Chest

World of Warcraft Battle Chest (now obsolete and no longer available, replaced by the World of Warcraft package) is a Blizzard Entertainment collection released on October 2, 2007. It combines the DVD versions of World of Warcraft and its first expansion, World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, along with BradyGames strategy guides for both titles and two Guest Pass Keys. The suggested retail price was $39.99 in the United States and €34.99 in Europe.

Determined to establish a home in Durotar, Thrall’s Horde broadened its ranks by welcoming the undead Forsaken alongside the orcs, tauren, and trolls. At the same time, the dwarves, gnomes, and the ancient night elves swore loyalty to the Alliance under the leadership of the human kingdom of Stormwind. When Stormwind’s king, Varian Wrynn, mysteriously vanished, Highlord Bolvar Fordragon served as regent—but his rule was undermined by the black dragon Onyxia, who used mind control and secretly ruled while disguised as a human noblewoman. As heroes uncovered Onyxia’s schemes, the elemental lord Ragnaros resurfaced, threatening both the Horde and the Alliance. In the end, champions from both factions defeated Onyxia and drove Ragnaros back into the Elemental Plane. Assault on Blackwing Lair Deep inside Blackrock Mountain, the black dragon Nefarian carried out horrific experiments using the blood of other dragonflights. Seeking to claim the entire region, he enlisted the remnants of the Dark Horde—an outlaw army that embraced the demonic bloodlust of the old Horde. These corrupted orcs, trolls, and others fought Ragnaros and the Dark Iron dwarves for control of the mountain. To build a force capable of dominating Azeroth and continuing the legacy of his infamous father, Deathwing the Destroyer, Nefarian bred chromatic dragons and raised a legion of aberrations. Heroes of the Horde and the Alliance ultimately vanquished Nefarian. Rise of the Blood God Years earlier, in the ruined temple of Atal’Hakkar, devoted priests of Hakkar the Soulflayer tried to summon the Blood God’s avatar into the world. The Atal’ai priesthood later learned the Soulflayer could only be called forth within the Gurubashi tribe’s ancient capital, Zul’Gurub. Reborn within this jungle stronghold, Hakkar seized control of the Gurubashi and bent mortal champions of the trolls’ powerful animal gods to his will. His dark influence was stopped when the Zandalari tribe rallied heroes and led an invasion of Zul’Gurub. The Gates of Ahn’Qiraj Long sealed behind the Scarab Wall, the desert fortress of Ahn’Qiraj housed the insectoid qiraji—an aggressive race that had once sought to devastate Kalimdor. Yet an even greater horror lay within: the Old God C’Thun, an ancient presence whose pervasive evil had seeped into Azeroth since time immemorial. As C’Thun drove the qiraji into a frenzy, the Alliance and Horde prepared for a massive war effort. Under the command of the orc Varok Saurfang, a combined army known as the Might of Kalimdor opened the gates of Ahn’Qiraj. Heroes then stormed its ruins and temples and ultimately defeated C’Thun. Shadow of the Necropolis Eager to spread the plague of undeath across Azeroth, the Lich King granted his powerful servant, the lich Kel’Thuzad, the flying citadel of Naxxramas as a Scourge stronghold. Repeated assaults by the Scarlet Crusade and the Argent Dawn weakened the necropolis’s defenses, allowing heroes to invade and defeat Kel’Thuzad. However, a traitor within the Argent Dawn escaped with Kel’Thuzad’s cursed remains and fled to Northrend—where the fallen lich could be brought back.
