尽管此前有传言称受 PlayStation 2 硬件限制影响会出现“缩水移植”，这款《Resident Evil 4》的 PlayStation 2 版整体上仍获得了较为积极的评价。为保留画面表现，多数 GameCube 的实时过场被转换为影片文件。不过，由于光盘容量与音频 RAM 的限制，过场之外的配音与音效质量有所降低。为弥补发售较晚，Capcom 还为该移植版加入了专门制作的新内容，包括小游戏、纪录片和服装等。
故事线
故事围绕里昂·S·肯尼迪（Leon S. Kennedy）展开，他是浣熊市事件（Raccoon City incident）少数幸存者之一。美国政府得知他在浣熊市的所作所为后，招募并训练里昂成为一名特工。如今他在一个特殊安保机构任职，在总统之女阿什莉·格雷厄姆（Ashley Graham）被一个神秘邪教组织绑架后，他被派往西班牙执行营救任务。
