Minecraft lets players explore, interact with, and reshape a dynamically generated world made of one-cubic-meter blocks. Beyond blocks, you’ll encounter plants, mobs, and items, with activities like mining ore, fighting hostile mobs, and crafting tools and new blocks from gathered resources. Its open-ended design supports building structures, creations, and artwork in single-player worlds or on multiplayer servers. Additional features include redstone circuits for logic and remote actions, minecarts and tracks, and the mysterious underworld known as the Nether. An optional end goal is to travel to the End and defeat the ender dragon.

Minecraft: Bedrock Edition (also called the Bedrock Version or simply Bedrock) is the multi-platform family of Minecraft editions developed by Mojang Studios, Xbox Game Studios, 4J Studios, and SkyBox Labs. Because the engine originated with Pocket Edition, this product family was previously referred to as “Pocket Edition,” “MCPE,” or “Pocket/Windows 10 Edition.” All Bedrock editions use the title Minecraft with no subtitle. The current Bedrock version is 1.16.0. Before the Better Together Update, each platform used its own subtitle, including Pocket Edition (for mobile), Windows 10 Edition, Gear VR Edition, and Fire TV Edition. Xbox One Edition, Nintendo Switch Edition, and PlayStation 4 Edition were originally part of Legacy Console Edition before the Better Together Update, and their features had to be ported to Bedrock Edition. Apple TV Edition was discontinued soon after, so it stopped receiving updates and was removed from the App Store on Apple TV devices. While Bedrock versions are nearly identical, pricing varies by platform. Approximate prices in USD: mobile versions cost US$6.99 (€7.99, £6.99, AU$10.99). PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Fire TV cost US$19.99 (€19.99, £16.74, AU$29.95). Windows 10 and Nintendo Switch are the most expensive at US$29.99 (€19.99, £16.74, AU$39.95). On Windows 10, the game is also sold as a Starter Collection or a Master Collection; the Master Collection costs US$49.99 (€49.99, £39.99, AU$69.95) and includes additional DLC and Minecoins.[33] Marketplace DLC purchased on one platform can be used on other platforms, but the game itself must be purchased separately for each platform. Even though they are all UWP apps, Minecraft is sold as three separate apps at different prices on Windows 10, Windows 10 Mobile, and Xbox One. This also means Xbox Live achievements are not shared across those platforms, and buying the game on one does not grant access on the others; each platform has its own achievement set. The Xbox One version is also available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers. As with Java Edition, updates are free of charge.
