Resident Evil

Resident Evil is a survival horror classic in which a special forces team known as S.T.A.R.S. fights through hordes of zombies and other mutants inside a mysterious mansion, all while trying to uncover the truth behind a terrifying infection. The game uses polygonal 3D characters over pre-rendered 2D backgrounds, relying on fixed camera angles rather than a real-time camera. It is credited with coining the term "survival horror" and helping popularize the genre.

On July 24, 1998, a string of bizarre murders strikes the outskirts of Raccoon City, a Midwestern town. The Raccoon City Police Department assigns its elite S.T.A.R.S. unit to investigate. When contact with Bravo Team is lost, Alpha Team is dispatched to find them. Alpha Team discovers Bravo Team’s crashed helicopter and lands at the site—only to be ambushed by a pack of monstrous dogs, killing one member. As their pilot, Brad Vickers, panics and takes off alone, the remaining survivors—Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Albert Wesker, and Barry Burton—are forced to seek shelter in a nearby abandoned mansion. It quickly becomes clear this is no ordinary mansion. It is a nightmare where the undead roam the corridors and other horrors lurk in the dark, waiting to strike.
