The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the fourth entry in The Elder Scrolls series, takes place in Cyrodiil—the Imperial province, heartland, and capital of Tamriel. Emperor Uriel Septim VII is assassinated while fleeing his own palace, but before he dies he entrusts you with the mystic Amulet of Kings. The adventure begins with a quest to find Uriel’s lost, illegitimate son, the only heir to the throne. With dark forces seeking ultimate dominion over man and mer alike, you stand between Tamriel’s future and the gates of Oblivion.
Storyline
After the Emperor’s mysterious and untimely death, desperate factions battle for control of Tamriel’s throne. With the Empire on the verge of collapse, the gates of Oblivion open and demons pour into the land, destroying everything in their path. To push back the darkness, the player must find the lost heir and uncover the sinister plot that threatens all of Tamriel.
