The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth

Players control the heroes or villains from the famous The Lord of the Rings movies. With hero characters similar to the Warcraft series, you command both armies and unique heroes. The story follows the films closely, with scenes from the movies appearing in-game. Alongside a large campaign that lets you play the journey of the Ring as the good side, there is also an evil campaign where you fight as the forces of Middle-earth. With multiple races from across Middle-earth, a large spell tree for customization, and a unique base-building layout, it was a standout for its time.
