Wolfenstein

Wolfenstein is a direct sequel to Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Spear of Destiny/Wolfenstein RPG. It features a “re-imagined” B.J. Blazkowicz—dark-haired and disguised—keeping the unshaven look from Return to Castle Wolfenstein and wearing civilian clothes instead of his usual military uniform. Gameplay focuses on shooting through hordes of Nazis, from standard soldiers to ninjas. To handle the volume of enemies, you have access to classic WWII-era weapons such as the German MP40 and the K98 rifle. Over the course of the game, you discover a medallion and unlock four powers. Initially, entering the Veil lets you see enemies more clearly and use strange flying creatures as bombs; later, you can slow time, surround yourself with a protective shield, or increase your strength. Using these medallion powers drains energy, which must be recharged at power spots that are nearly invisible in the real world.

The story takes place in the fictional town of Isenstadt during World War II. The Nazis have imposed martial law as they excavate rare Nachtsonne crystals needed to access the “Black Sun” dimension. B.J. Blazkowicz is sent to Isenstadt to locate and retrieve the Thule Medallion and four crystals, preventing the Nazis from using them.
