Quake

Quake is a first-person shooter developed by id Software and published by GT Interactive in 1996, featuring music composed by Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails. The first game in the Quake series, it sends players through maze-like medieval environments to battle a variety of monsters using a wide selection of weapons.

The player takes the role of a protagonist known as Ranger, sent through a portal to stop an enemy code-named “Quake.” The government has been experimenting with teleportation and creates a working prototype called a “Slipgate.” Quake compromises the Slipgate by linking it to its own teleportation system, then uses the connection to send death squads into the Human dimension to test Humanity’s martial capabilities. Ranger’s mission is to push through this portal threat and shut Quake down.
