The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

This dark fantasy Western third-person RPG is the sequel to The Witcher (2007). Featuring multiple endings and branching narrative paths, it follows Geralt of Rivia, a witcher who is falsely accused of regicide. As he travels to clear his name and uncover the real killer, he is drawn into political turmoil on the brink of war between the imperialistic Nilfgaardian Empire and the Four Kingdoms.

You play as Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer known as a witcher. Caught in the political turmoil consuming Temeria, Geralt helped suppress the Order of the Flaming Rose’s rebellion. Soon after, he saved King Foltest when the monarch was attacked by a witcher-like assassin. Now Geralt remains at Foltest’s side as his bodyguard while the king works to restore peace. The Order’s last strongholds have fallen to the royal army, but one task remains: Baroness La Valette has declared secession, and her fortress must be captured. A month after the attempted assassination, Foltest’s forces stand at the gates of La Valette Castle, preparing a final assault. Still with the king, Geralt is among them—unable to begin his personal quest to uncover the mysterious assassin’s identity and origins.
