The Witcher

Based on the novel series by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher follows Geralt of Rivia, an amnesiac witcher—a problem solver and monster slayer. His home, the Kaer Morhen citadel, is attacked by an organization called the Salamandra, who steal valuable potions and escape. As the story unfolds, Geralt must navigate moral dilemmas, piece together the truth about his past, and track down the Salamandra.

The story begins when Geralt of Rivia—one of the few remaining witchers, traveling monster hunters for hire with unnatural powers—is brought to the witcher stronghold of Kaer Morhen. Fellow witchers found him unconscious in a field, and Geralt remembers almost nothing about his earlier life. At Kaer Morhen, he meets the sorceress Triss Merigold. The castle is soon attacked by Salamandra, a bandit gang led by a criminal known as the Professor, the mage Savolla—who controls a large praying mantis-like monster—and another mage, Azar Javed. Geralt, the witchers, and Triss kill the monster and defeat Savolla, but the Professor and Azar escape with the mutagens that genetically alter witchers. After Triss is treated for the injuries she suffered fighting Javed, Geralt and the other witchers split up to gather information on Salamandra.
