The Elder Scrolls Online

Every legend starts somewhere—and in The Elder Scrolls Online, it starts with you. Set your story in Tamriel’s distant past nearly 1,000 years before TES V: Skyrim, and explore a world shaped by adventure and possibility.

Set in the Second Era (2E 583) during the Interregnum, the game takes place in a time of political instability. The Daedric Prince Molag Bal exploits this chaos as he tries to pull all of Tamriel into his realm of Coldharbour, using devices called “Dark Anchors” to drag it in. The Fighters Guild has taken it upon themselves to remove these anchors. Meanwhile, the Tharn family—who currently rule Cyrodiil through Empress Regent Clivia Tharn—has formed a pact with the King of Worms. He agrees to bolster the Empire’s forces by resurrecting fallen soldiers. In secret, Mannimarco is conspiring with Molag Bal, the Daedric Prince of Corruption and Domination, to seize control of Mundus. Molag Bal is also harvesting mortal souls. The Hero is an adventurer whose soul has been taken, allowing them to return to life again and again.
