Grand Theft Auto IV

Grand Theft Auto IV is an action-adventure game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It is the eleventh title in the Grand Theft Auto series and the first main entry since 2004’s Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Played from a third-person perspective, you explore its world on foot or by vehicle. In single-player, you play as Niko Bellic, and the game also includes online multiplayer for up to 32 players with both cooperative and competitive modes set within a recreation of the single-player environment. Two expansion packs—The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony—were later released, each with new, interconnected plots and new protagonists tied to the main Grand Theft Auto IV storyline.

Grand Theft Auto IV follows Niko Bellic, a veteran of an unnamed war in Eastern Europe who is haunted by the betrayal of his 15-man army unit. Ten years later, a smuggling run collapses after a partner’s betrayal, and Niko leaves Eastern Europe to escape the wrath of his employer, Ray Bulgarin. After six months in the merchant navy aboard the cargo ship Platypus—and encouraged by his cousin Roman’s stories—Niko arrives in Liberty City to chase the American Dream and to search for the traitor from his unit. Soon after, he discovers Roman’s tales of wealth and luxury were lies masking gambling debts and loansharks. Roman is living in a filthy apartment, not a mansion.
